About this program:

When it comes to basements in Maine, we frequently find homeowners dealing with issues around mold and asbestos. Both homeowners and professionals must face questions such as: where are the sources, how can I verify it’s there, what are the regulations, and how do I get rid of it? In this session we will address these questions and engage with the audience for how they’ve worked through these IAQ issues.

Program Objectives:

  • Learn what mold and asbestos are and their risks

  • What materials commonly have mold and asbestos

  • How to verify the presence of mold and asbestos

  • How do we remove mold and asbestos in basements

  • Review established regulations and guidance

  • Q & A

Who should attend:  property owners and managers, real estate professionals, home inspectors, medical and public health providers, municipal officials, mold inspection and testing professionals, and others interested in a better understanding of mold and asbestos problems in homes.
