About this program:

This program will address the challenges and opportunities every school system faces when upgrading the ventilation systems in an existing school building.  The session brings together a trio of seasoned professionals representing the owner’s, the engineer’s, and the contractor’s perspective, each of which are critical for project success. The presenters will discuss actual projects that are either recently completed or are in the design/bid process, so that attendees can learn about why certain design elements were selected and why others were not.  Attendees will see summaries of actual project data both before and after project completion, including student absentee data, energy use, and code compliance improvements.

Attendees will learn:

  1. Appreciation of the value of the team approach that includes the owner, the engineer, and the contractor

  2. Which design elements are critical to include in your next project, and which elements to leave out.

  3. How to evaluate project success using pre-project and post-project data

  4. Application of codes and standards, as well as guidance for building operations during the COVID-19 pandemic

  5. How to navigate the challenges and limitations of upgrading existing school ventilation systems
