Air Filtration and VRF

Rachel Roy, Professional Engineer, Mitsubishi Electric, Westbrook, ME

About this program:

Rachel Roy will review air filtration options and fresh air options available with VRF. She will focus on school IAQ requirements. She will also discuss refrigerant concentration limits in spaces and new technology available to help reduce refrigerant in occupied spaces.

Learning Goals:

  • Options that are available for filtration with VRF systems and how to use them in designs.

  • Learn more about fresh air delivery options with VRF systems.

  • Specific filtration requirements for schools.

  • Refrigerant concentration limits per code and how to calculate those.

  • New technologies that will keep refrigerant out of occupied spaces while also using VRF systems.

About the Presenter:

As the Commercial Regional Manager for Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont for Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US (METUS), Rachel is part of the team that provides training and product selection and design guidance for the City Multi Commercial VRF product line. A University of Maine at Orono graduate, Rachel is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Maine and has over 25 years of experience in the commercial HVAC market, including 17 years as a practicing consulting mechanical engineer. Rachel has had an active role in the Maine chapter of ASHRAE, including being the president from 2015-2018 and is currently serving as the Chapter Reception Chair.
